ABOUT 8th Street Contemporary Dance Company : The dance company was founded in the fall of 2006 by Artistic Director, Katie Sue McSwain. It started as a small dance company with eleven dedicated dancers. The 2008/09 season has 16 members comprised of 8 Company Members, 6 Apprentices and 2 Hip Hop Artists.

The non-profit organization 8th Street Company Inc. was created in 2007 as a 501c3. Still under the artistic direction of Katie Sue McSwain, it consists of the professional 8th Street Contemporary Dance Company, a Concert Series of original repertoire and an Apprenticeship Program.
